The UK Youth Parliament has launched a new area of its website called UKYP TV.
UKYP TV features several short films produced by MYPs over the past 12 months.
These films address issues such as knife and gun crime, sex and relationship education and fairtrade.
All of the films are produced by young people. They receive training in filming and editing and are encouraged to use their skills to capture the voices of young people on the issues which matter most to them.
Andy Hamflett, UKYP Chief Executive, said: “We’ve invested in video technology as part of our strategic development over the past few months, and our MYPs are using the equipment more and more to capture the views of wider groups of young people – especially hard to reach groups – on important issues. Other young people – or anyone interested in the issues contained in the films – can email us with comments and we’ll be looking to extend that to allow viewers to post videos of their own.”
The next phase of development will be to enable any young person to submit short films on any issue they feel passionate about.
